What Founders Actually Need From Capital
Founders rarely lack ambition. What they lack is a partner who has seen the next phase before.
By DCD Capital
Ask a founder what they need and the first answer is usually funding. Ask a second time and the answer changes: a customer introduction, a senior hire, a view on whether an acquisition is worth the distraction.
The transition from founder-led growth to institutional scale is the point where most value is either created or lost. It requires new people, new systems and a different relationship with risk.
Our role is not to run the business. It is to have been present for that transition often enough to be useful while it happens.
We back people as much as businesses.
