Conviction in Uncertain Markets
Uncertainty is not the absence of opportunity. It is the condition under which most good investments are actually made.

Investors talk about uncertainty as though it were an interruption. In practice it is the permanent operating environment, and the periods that felt certain in hindsight rarely felt that way at the time.
Conviction is often mistaken for confidence. It is closer to the opposite: the willingness to do enough work that a position can be held when the market disagrees.
Discipline is what makes that possible. Understanding the business, the people and the downside first means the eventual decision requires less courage and more patience.
Capital creates possibility. Conviction creates outcomes.
